The tablets take over and if you’re expecting a tablet war like I am, you are quite correct. The Apple iPad 2 is expected in 2011. Not only that, the Samsung Galaxy Tab is here: it is smaller than the iPad and is bound to be a part of the competition. With some 300,000 apps available for download for everyone, more people will be buying. Here comes: RIM’s Playbook and HP/Palm from Android. The trend of 2011 will be goodbye to desktops. Their days are numbered. Space is limited on our old fashioned desk top.
Augmented reality is going to become more popular. Our view of reality is changing, and no one can deny that.
Expect an explosion of 3D content in 2011. Look forward to 3D content on YouTube. 3D TVs cost a lot, but expect the competition between manufacturers to bring the price down as this new technology emerges in 2011.
In 2011, the internet fuses with TV. More TV and more movies fuse with the internet. It is predicted that many, many people will cancel their cable. Watch out Rogers, your power is slowly fading like all empires eventually do, but we’ll still be paying for the internet. Look towards more users at Google TV and Apple TV.
Expect smarter smart phones in 2011. Users want faster smart phones and smart phones that do more. Don’t worry, they are coming in 2011. Power has been an issue. It’s going to get fixed. Got your iPhone yet?
Wifi zones will be expanded. Everyone’s mobile. Time to do it.
Netflix is born and will be growing up as a healthy baby. The video store is dying. Convenience and price are fueling the growth of companies like Netflix. The world is changing. Understand?
Find your favorite ebook. More and more people will be reading books on their ebooks. The home library is dead. I’ve seen more people reading their e-readers on the plane lately. Look towards the Cobalt wireless e-reader – bound to be very hot in 2011.
Security camera surveillance is up: Look your best at all times.
There’s lots changing and coming in the tech industry in 2011. Be there. Get yours.
