Nominations for the Academy Awards 2011
The broadcast of the nominations for the 83rd Academy Awards, just beamed over the TV screen, live from LA.
We’ve all been waiting to hear who the Academy Awards have decided are the best and the brightest in the movie world over the last year. Earlier Academy Award winner Mo’Nique made the announcements of the Academy nominations. It’s early in LA, but the announcements serve as an appetizer for the biggest dinner in Hollywood. The Oscars are always anticipated with the biggest excitement in tinsel town.
Best actress nominations by the Academy are as follows: Annette Bening, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Lawrence, Natalie Portman, Michelle Williams.
Best actor nominations include Javier Bardem, James Franco, Jesse Eisenberg and Colin Firth, of The King’s Speech.
The contenders for the best movie category are the Black Swan, The Fighter, Inception, The Kids Are All Right, The King’s Speech, 127 Hours, The Social Network, Toy Story 3, True Grit and Winter’s Bone.
Although The Social Network did really well at the Golden Globe awards, we think it’ll be a battle between The Black Swan, The Social Network AND The King’s Speech. But we’re betting on The King’s Speech cleaning up at the Academy Awards.
The Best Foreign Film nominations include one from Canada (yay!) Incendies, Algeria – Hors la Loi , Denmark – In a Better World, from Greece – Dogtooth, from Japan – Confessions, from Mexico – Biutiful, from South Africa – Life, Above All, from Spain – Tambien la Lluvia and from Sweden, Simple Simon.
The 2011 Academy Awards will be broadcast live on February 27th from LA. All the Hollywood stars will be on the red carpet, dressed in their finest designer dresses and baubles.

I really like True Grit. Hailee Steinfeld was amizang! I don’t understand why she is nominated for a supporting role and not a lead role, do you know how that works? To me she played such a big part, really the main character and the only female role. So why just a supporting actress nomination has me confused.Anyways it was amizang!
