What Colors to Wear?

Colors play a prominent part in dressing for any occasion. For New Years Eve where there’s already too much black (from the dark and gloomy days of fashion) and white (reflections from the winter snow).  Try opting for some vibrant colors to bring life to the party. Red, of course, being the first choice as red brings out the passion and boldness in you. But if you are not a fan of the red dress, then try something in navy,  or a deep aqua, or perhaps an evening dress in a deep serious purple, all are good options too. They’re all colorful enough to get you a second look and make you the life of the party.  Go for luxurious fabrics in your dress, velvets, silks and satins.  After all, your goal for the night is to be gorgeous.  It’s all about the glitz and glamour, of course!

Which Style of Dress to Choose?

Where short dresses bring the sexy back, long maxis or evening gowns bring the sensuous in fashion back. They are hot and elite, bold and beautiful – a perfect combination to welcome in 2012 in the grandest of ways! Or, if you are keen enough to try out something new and interesting this New Years Eve, stylish and well fitted, long skirts are options to consider as well. Stilettos – How High is High Enough?

I firmly believe that picking out shoes takes longer than picking out the dress for New Years eve. So let me try to help  this time. Since your dress may be long, it’s needless to say that your high heels should be towering. Usually the higher the stilettos, the better your legs look, but keep in mind that this is a New Year Eve party and chances are big that you might be on your toes for longer than you’d imagined. Keep your stilettos high of course, but only to the level of tolerance. Do not think of wearing 6-inch stilettos if you are tripping your way out to the venue solo.

Accessories – the Big Confusion?

Ooooh, speaking from experience. Even if the dress, hairstyle, and shoes are decided and are seemingly perfect for the occasion of New Years Eve, fashion accessories take longer to choose and sometimes still don’t work with the outfit. Okay, so you’re choosing vibrant colors to be noticed and to remain the center of attention and you’re going for an evening gown for the classically sensuous look. So what about your accessories? Keep it simple. Try for  simple, diamond studded dangling earrings to highlight your neckline in a beautiful way. If your party dress is a simple but classy design, try a large beaded earring.  Fashion dictates that even though it’s the holiday season, you don’t need to be a Christmas tree and ‘decorate’ yourself with shiny baubles; let this New Years Eve be all about sassy and classy, a careful blending of what is glamourous with just a touch of the glitz.

Hmm… But What about a Clutch?

Never leave home without your wallet – this is my motto! And since we are dressed to impress, a handheld clutch is the way to go. The rule of thumb is that you choose the same color for your clutch and shoes, which will be a contrast to the party dress you wear.
