Suarez Would Have Played Against the Netherlands

I thought I’d write a response to all the people, avid World Cup fans, who commented passionately on my article yesterday about Luis Suarez,Ghana and the World Cup.
Ladies and Gentlemen, such anger and so many exclamation marks – all for Suarez from Uruguay and his play. Some good arguments in there but chill out and relax a bit on the personal insults. They only undermine your opinions.
Granted, Suarez got penalized – for not playing by the rules, as a few of you have noted. Thank you for making my case.
And to Ig, they’re not actually called “rules”, they’re called “laws”.
On Uruguay’s record, they did win the World Cup twice – in 1930 and in 1950, and they haven’t been in the top four since 1970. Brazil’s won it five times, most recently in 1994 and 2002. Uruguay hasn’t won Copa since 1995.
To Angela, who with no basis extends my dislike for Suarez’s action and his team to the whole Uruguayan people, shame on you. Do you have a favorite sports team? Do you have a team you don’t like? How ’bout them Leafs? And by the way, re-read your own post for the typo before suggesting others take (presumably) a writing course.
Friends, if you read my article again, you’ll see that I’m an avid fan of sportsmanship. I would have been in awe of Suarez had he thrown the ball in the net, but even more so had he “put his body on the line” as Ariel K suggested and defended the shot with his chest. Suarez would have solid hero status for such skill and sportsmanship.
And he would have played against the Netherlands.
