Celebrity Sightings in Malibu
Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher
After shopping til we drop in Santa Monica, we headed off to Malibu for a late lunch at the Malibu Beach Comber Restaurant on the Malibu Pier and what to our wandering eyes should appear but a great yacht, totally unlike any other, docked offshore. Helicopters and buzzing overhead. Some guy’s hanging out of the helicopter by a rope. Paparazzi is our guess. Or some suicidal nutcase. How annoying paparazzis and suicidal maniacs must be to billionaires and movie stars. Questions asked such as: who owns that $300,000,000 boat? - were answered with such things as the owner is a 38 year old Russian billionaire named Andrey Melnichenko, married to some Serbian super beauty Aleksandra Melnichenko (Sandra Nikolic). How exciting. He’s a banker by trade. The boat is so big, I’m figuring, Russia must be a very good place to be a banker in.
The next thing we hear while having lunch at the Malibu Beach Comer Restaurant is that Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher are guests of Andrey Melnichenko on the boat. Even more exciting.

We’re having our lunch of crab cakes, fish and chips and salads of caramelized pecans, Gorgonzola cheese and apple slices and wine and beer and who should we see coming down the pier but Ashton Kutcher in a straw hat, plaid shirt walking down the pier. They look a little self conscious, Demi holds her head down. Celebrity status might be the cause of this. They just want a quiet afternoon out on the boat, but they can never walk around unrecognized. Maybe they just had a fight and Ashton’s trying to look casual as if nothing happened and she’s sulking. Oh, the price of fame.
The Big Boat of a Russian Banker
Demi has long flowing black hair, looks lovely, small and compact. I’ve always liked her. It’s our little thrill, hanging out in California, seeing a couple of stars walking by. Celebrity sighting in Malibu. Monster yacht. So much wealth in some places on earth.
So brief was our brush with stardom on our first afternoon…
